As margins continue to tighten for the cow/calf producer, keeping your calves for a few extra weeks to improve their health can add dollars to your bottom line.

About the Program

Due to the overwhelming demand for preconditioned cattle, we have created a program to help our producers easily meet the requirements to achieve top dollar on market day for their calves. The reality of the cattle industry today is that the vast majority of cattle marketed through FRS are shipped directly out of state. Proper weaning practices coupled with the immunity given by the vaccines can create an animal that is much better prepared for sale and for shipping. When your calves are protected and healthy, it will show in their performance for the buyer. In return, the buyers have expressed an increased value for your cattle if FRS can verify vaccinations and proper weaning. This program allows us to do this.

Vaccine may be purchased from a vaccine supplier or in person at our office during normal business hours.

Ear tags are free of charge and are assigned in the office.

FRS PreVac Level 1

-Vaccine must be given at least 21 days prior to sale.

-Killed or modified live vaccines are acceptable.

-Weaning is encouraged but not required.

-Affidavit and proof of vaccine purchase must be provided at time of delivery.

1. Vaccinated for following viruses:

IBR/PI3/BVD types I & II/BRSV

Pasturella

Clostridials (Blackleg)

Haemophilus Somnus

Tetanus at castration

2. Treated for internal and external parasites

3. Males castrated and healed

4. FRS PreVac ear tag

FRS PreVac Level 2

-Vaccine must be given at least 21 days prior to sale.

-Must be 45 days weaned.

-Affidavit and proof of vaccine purchase must be provided at time of delivery.

1. Revaccinated for the following viruses 14-28 days after FRS PreVac Level 1 vaccinations:
